| In April, we unveiled The NEW the Patriot-News, with a new look, new structure and new content. Since then, readers have sent us a lot of feedback and comments about what they like – and sometimes don’t like about the newly designed paper. For example, while the full television listings are available in the daily paper, the Sunday TV book was changed to now be more basic. We received quite a few calls and emails objecting to the new format of the Sunday book. We appreciate you taking the time to tell us what you think. And we are updating this page from time-to-time so you can see what others are saying about the newly designed paper. Please keep sending us your feedback! |

| "My husband and I both love the new format especially the new front Express section. The whole paper is easier to read, more clean-cut and simplified. Good job! " — Carole "LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! Better organized, much easier to follow and identify my areas of interest." — Richard "The redesigned Patriot-News is wonderful. While the quality of writing continues to be exceptional, it is more concise and direct. Local and county news is well organized and easy to find. The commentaries provide analysis and provoke thought. The Express feature allows families who read the paper together to get the news and share puzzles. Perhaps the best change is that some positive, happy stories and human-interest pieces are now front page. In this day and age, good news that is front and center is so welcome." — Meg "The recent redesign is beautiful, making a good paper even better and more updated. And in almost 20 years of getting home delivery, I think they've missed us maybe one time. The new columnists like Laura Vescey add interest and depth. High School sports is done particularly well. Congratulations Patriot-News!" — email post by anonymous "The TV listings are absolutely ridiculous. You have no information or very little information as to what the programs are about." — Frank "It's taking me a lot longer to read the new paper. That's because there is so much stuff I want to read. It appears as if you've dumped all the standard stories (that we've already gotten via broadcast, etc.) and replaced them with "behind the headlines" and other offbeat stuff. Like "60 Minutes" (without Andy Rooney). I've learned more about the Middle East in 2 weeks than in the prior 40 years. This makeover was more than gimmicks. I like it. It took two weeks to like the skinny page, but now that I know how to confidently deal with it (akin to an oyster fork at a dinner party), I would be lost without it" — David "I love the new format of the Patriot-News. I like the little piece that I can pick up in the morning and take the puzzles and have something to do if I have to wait for someone. I love it and things are easier to find." — Olive "Just wanted to tell you that I love the new paper." — Robert "I really like the new design!" — Helen "I really like the changes you've made in the paper. Your paper is tops, it is very, very good and those changes are really fantastic. I like the idea of The Patriot weekly (community) section that comes on Friday, but the whole paper is very good. It's kind of the first time I've ever felt that the changes made in a newspaper were excellent. They certainly are, and I wanted to commend you on the good work." — Bob "The “new” Patriot News is soooo much better! …Definitely sweetly improved! Actually felt like reading it instead of just “breezing through. Love that little pull-off thing. It’s refreshed enough to make you realize something has changed, but it's not so refreshed to the point where you don't recognize what newspaper you're holding … As I said, it's sweet!" — Lisa "Kudos for your new format. It's terrific: The half-sheet lures one in, and the many small local stories are appreciated. " — Kay "I am really liking the new format of the newspaper. The Express is very good, and very useful. My Mom (78 years old, and generally speaking not a fan of change) commented to me on Tuesday that she likes the Express as well. You must be doing something right if you’ve converted my Mom. " — Barb "We are delighted with the new look of the The Patriot-News. We just never know what you people will do next. With the decline of newspapers in general, our local seems to shine." — Lois |
